Have you ever wondered if Woodlands get lonely, if we don't visit?

A silly question but it is easy to forget that woodlands are full of life from flowers to fungi, insects to animals. All helping the natural ecosystem, all helping each other to flourish. So what’s the answer? Woodlands are definitely not lonely!
When we take a walk in the woods it is easy to forget the life within it. Think about the following the next time you visit:-
Notice the trees and how different they are from each other? Their size, colour and leaves?
Look at the ground, what can you see? Flowers, plants or something more?
Does the air smell different to home?
What about the sounds of woods, can you hear animals, birds or insects?
Stand safely, still and quiet, close your eyes and listen. What can you hear?
There is more to woodlands than just trees, if you have more time in the woods you could look for Hob homes or Build a Hob Shelter or even build a large den for you and your friends. Why not try making art from the things you find on the woodland floor? Leaves and twigs are great for making a picture.
The next time you go a walk in the woods, be aware of all the life that lives in there, waiting to greet you as you walk amongst the trees!
